Camden National Bank donates to Island Challenge Fund

Vera Rand, Vice President for Commercial Lending at Camden National Bank, (right) presents Heidi Shott, new Communications Director of the Genesis Fund, with a check for $2,000 for the Islands Challenge Fund at the Island Affordable Housing Symposium held in Belfast on April 28-29. More than 100 people gathered to learn about and discuss issues of affordable housing and year-round sustainability.

The Islands Challenge Fund, launched in 2004 by a $220,000 grant from Jane's Trust of Boston and additional funding, makes grants to island groups to support housing and community facility projects aimed at stabilizing the year-round communities on Maine 's islands.

Camden National joins several Maine-based financial institutions and foundations in supporting the Islands Challenge Fund.

The Genesis Fund, in partnership with the Maine Community Foundation, the Maine Sea Coast Mission and the Island Institute, has made grants to fund
efforts on Islesboro, Monhegan and North Haven.
