Annual donations to the Genesis Fund allow staff to offer expert technical assistance to nonprofits across Maine at no cost. Assistance might be walking a community group through the process of becoming incorporated or helping an organization secure a low-interest federal loan that will help complete its affordable housing project. The Genesis Fund’s ability to offer guidance and assistance to groups sets it apart from other lending institutions.

Donors may also designate that their gifts be added to our pool of permanent revolving loan capital.

There are several ways to support the Genesis Fund:

• Gifts of cash are the quickest and simplest form of contribution. The Genesis Fund is a 501(c)(3) public charity, and all donations are tax deductible to the full extent permitted by law.
  
• If you receive our annual appeal in late November, please respond via the enclosed reply envelope.
  
• At any time you may make a donation by credit card (Master Card or Visa) by phoning the Genesis Fund or mailing in the information.
  
• Donate On-line at www.networkforgood.org
  T his nonprofit organization makes it easy and convenient to help organizations like the Genesis Fund. Full disclosure of our annual IRS information is available by clicking the button to the left.  One hundred percent of your gift goes directly to the Genesis Fund, and it is easy to use. It also allows you to donate to other charitable organizations at the same time you donate to the Genesis Fund. Network for Good does not rent, sell, trade or share your personal information, and it only discloses your personal information to the Genesis Fund if you give your permission.
  
• Now, through the tax year 2007 and thanks to the Pension Protection Act of 2006, for the first time ever you may use your IRA account to make charitable gifts. If you are at least 70½ years of age at the time of the gift, you can now donate up to $100,000 tax-free directly out of your IRA account. The amount of your contribution will be excluded from your gross income. Only gifts made directly to the Genesis Fund, not investments, will qualify.
  
• A very popular and efficient way to make a gift is via appreciated stock. If you have stock that has appreciated in value since the date of purchase, donating the stock to the Genesis Fund is a great way to help us out and for you to avoid capital gains. In most cases, the full market value of the securities is deductible. Please see instructions below.
