Mobile Home Cooperatives in the U.S. The New Hampshire Community Loan Fund's Manufactured Housing Park Program Since 1983 the New Hampshire Community Loan Fund has help convert 86 mobile home parks into resident-owned communities. ROC USA and the Meredith Institute A national support and training effort to assist organizations working with mobile home park residents to convert to resident ownership. Since 2006, three Genesis Fund staff members have completed the training. A 2007 report by the Carsey Institute of the University of New Hampshire titled, "Building Value and Security for Homeowners in Mobile Home Parks: A Report on Economic Outcomes." Key findings include: "...that residents who own their manufactured home communities... have significant economic advantages over their counterparts in investor-owned communities, as evidenced by higher average home sales prices, faster home sales, and access to fixed rate home financing. Additionally, residents who own their communities consistently perceive greater control over and stability in their lot rents and governance, and worry less about being displaced because of park closure for redevelopment." The Genesis Fund is a member of the I'M HOME (Innovations in Manufactured Homes) network and a 2007 recipient of a Catalyst Grant. I'M HOME is a multi-year initiative that seeks to ensure that families who choose to purchase manufactured homes can reap benefits from homeownership comparable to owners of other homes.
