August and September 2005 Genesis approves new loans in support of social services in Brewer and DamariscottaIn August and September 2005, Genesis approved $477,500 in new loans to United Cerebral Palsy of Northeastern Maine and Coastal Kids Preschool in support of much-needed social services.
United Cerebral Palsy of Northeastern Maine provides housing and life skill services to people with disabilities. With a $202,500 acquisition loan from Genesis, UCP has purchased a property in Brewer that will be known as the Chamberlain Street Center. UCP's Chamberlain Street Center will provide housing and training facilities for clients with disabilities who have the potential to live independently.
Coastal Kids Preschool provides a rich educational program for children, ages 3 to 5, several of whom have special developmental needs. Genesis provided a $275,000 bridge loan for Coastal Kids to acquire a property in Damariscotta that will serve as a permanent facility for the preschool. This new facility will allow Coastal Kids to continue serving Lincoln County as the only preschool program that offers one-on-one therapy for children with special needs.
