Helping
community groups help their neighbors...
Since 1992, the
Genesis Fund has provided nearly 8,000 hours of technical
assistance for dozens of groups in every county in Maine.
Our assistance to
community-based groups has included helping groups achieve
nonprofit status, leverage grant funding and government dollars,
develop organizational capacity, and identify and connect
them with like-minded groups in other parts of the state.
Occasionally our
predevelopment assistance or help with a feasibility study
results in offering the following advice to a community group
or organization: "This may not work here" or "This
is not the right time or set of circumstances for this project."
That, too, is valuable technical assistance, but they know
that the Genesis Fund will be there when the time and opportunity
is right.
